Bees ahve always been there buzzing around and pollinating in order for us to get the food we need. but now, millions of bees are dying and that could affect our environment and food supply deeply. we rely on bees to pollinate so we can eat our fruits and veggies. But one things is clear: no bees means no food. In recent years, beekeepers report that they're losing on average 30% of the honeybee population each winter, TWICE the loss considered economically tolerable. Scientists point to several causes behind the problem, including global warming, habitat loss, parasites and a class of bee-killing insecticides known as neonicotinoids (or neonics). An example includes in 2013, a farmer planted a crop coated in neonics. Once the corn got planted, bees started to die by the MILLIONS! BUt we, ordinary teenagers can make a difference. You can use local, raw honey, buy local, organic foods, plant bee friendly plants, and spread awareness. Together, we can give bees a chance.
